Fr. Battersby is a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit and Director of Graduate Seminarians at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. 
 
Born in 1960 in Highland Park, he received a B.A. from Wayne State University (biology) in 1983. 
 
After a period of work and discernment, Fr. Battersby entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary and completed his formation and studies (MDIV) for the priesthood in 1998. He was ordained at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on May 30, 1998. 
 
He has served the Archdiocese of Detroit as parochial vicar at St. Thecla and St. Claude (1998-2000) and at St. Gerard and Immaculate Heart of Mary and Presentation/Our Lady of Victory (2000-2002).  He served as pastor of St. Christopher (Detroit, 2002-2007). 
 
In addition to his responsibilities as the Director of Graduate Seminarians he serves the institution on the Priestly Formation Team, Formation Advisors and the Seminarian Advisor Team in the College of Liberal Arts. He is currently serving as the administrator of St. Leo Church in Detroit.
